AA Thornton adds two new partners

UK-based law firm AA Thornton has appointed two new IP-focused partners to the firm’s litigation department.

Daniel Byrne joins from Gide Loyrette Nouel, having been based in the Paris office. He has experience in patent litigation and multi-jurisdictional patent matters.

“AA Thornton’s track record as a leading IP firm and the calibre of its people make it a natural home for high-quality litigation and I am very pleased to have joined AA Thornton as a partner to contribute to this work,” Byrne said.

He is authorised to sit in the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (small claims), and adjudicates patent, trademark, and copyright matters.

Simon Spink focuses his practice mainly in the life sciences sector, and joins from Bristows’ London office.

He previously served as head of legal at Novartis’ animal health division.

“Throughout the firm there is the recognition that every client has unique needs and deserves a bespoke service—for me that is really important,” Spink said.

Geoff Hussey, partner at AA Thornton, said the new hires both bring a “wealth of experience” of handling IP disputes in the UK court as well as managing those disputes internationally.
