Our partners at Practice Insight have kindly provided us with data on filings in the UK, listing the five most productive firms in three separate filing categories.
Marks & Clerk and Dehns lead the table for total applications filed between approximately September 2014 and August 2017, with a healthy lead over HGF. The two firms are also top of the referrals table, with a significant proportion of their total applications coming from referrals in both cases.
For PCT applications the leading firms look quite similar, with only Reddie & Grose featuring in this table but not the total applications table. PCT applications make up very small proportions of the leading firm’s overall filings.
This table that gives an indication of which firms received the largest number of referrals in the jurisdiction. That is, the number of applications filed by the given firm between the approximate period of September 2014 and August 2016, where the firm was not responsible for the originating application (in the case of national phase entry and Paris Convention applications), and where that originating application was received from Canada, US, Germany, Spain, Korea, Italy, France or Japan. JA Kemp gets a lot of referral business despite not featuring in the top five for overall applications in the UK.
