Canada-based licensing firm Wi-LAN has acquired a patent portfolio from Panasonic.
Wi-LAN announced on November 7 that its subsidiary Micro-Optimus Technologies had acquired the patents, which cover micro-electromechanical systems used in consumer devices, such as fitness trackers and handsets.
According to the release, this is the third agreement under which Panasonic has transferred patents to a Wi-LAN subsidiary under a licensing partnership framework.
Wi-LAN and Panasonic’s previous patent portfolio agreements included a broad range of technologies including, motor drivers, power converters, microcontrollers and semiconductor packaging.
The terms of the agreement have not been released.
