The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has appointed a new chief economist and director of economics.
Keith Hall will direct the agency's professional economists and support the ITC in its role as adviser to the US government on international trade matters.
The appointment was confirmed by ITC chair Meredith Broadbent today, (September 8).
Hall comes to the ITC from a position as a senior research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
Earlier in his career, Hall spent ten years at the USITC. He joined the agency in 1991 and went on to serve as chief of the Applied Economics Division, eventually becoming a senior international economist in 2001.
"The Commission joins me in welcoming Keith Hall back to the ITC, where he will build on contributions he has already made to our methodologies for estimating the effects of trade policy on the US economy, productivity, and employment," said Broadbent.
The ITC is an independent, nonpartisan, quasi-judicial federal agency that provides trade expertise to the government, determines the impact of imports on US industries, and directs actions against unfair trade practices in import trade, including patent and trademark infringement.
