Law firm  Simmons & Simmons has expanded its IP practice by hiring Michael Burdon as a partner in the firm’s London office.

Burdon, who will become part of the team in May, joins from law firm Olswang, where he worked as a partner and head of the firm’s European litigation team.

He focuses his practice on patent litigation, and his clients include companies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, electronics and software industries.

Rowan Freeland, head of IP at the firm, said: “There are a number of key issues affecting clients today, including the arrival of the Unified Patent Court later this year.

“Michael’s arrival adds bench strength to our IP team who continue to provide cutting-edge advice for clients,” he added.
