Sennheiser sued for patent infringement over wireless earpiece
US company My Nemesis has filed a complaint against electronics company Sennheiser for patent infringement.
The case was filed yesterday, July 5, at the US District Court for the Northern District of California and centres on technology covering a wireless radiation-free earpiece.
Sennheiser allegedly infringed Nemesis’s patent by selling a product called IAS MO 2000, which is a wireless earpiece.
The patent involved is US number 8,055,044, titled “Fiber optic earpiece to reduce radiation transmitted to a cell phone user”.
Patent ‘044 was issued to the inventors Amit Ronen and Alon Konchitsky in 2011, but was acquired by My Nemesis.
My Nemesis said in its complaint: “Defendant Sennheiser used a copy cat approach in manufacturing the infringing product using the features claimed in the ‘004 patent and to give an impression of a new product sometimes called ‘Sennheiser’s IAS MO 2000’.”
The company added: “As a result of Sennheiser’s unlawful infringement of the ‘004 patent, My Nemesis has suffered and will continue to suffer damage.”
My Nemesis has asked the court for an injunction enjoining Sennheiser from selling its allegedly infringing product.
It has also asked for damages, as well as costs for bringing the case to court.
