Ropes & Gray appoints most active PTAB trial attorney in US
Ropes & Gray has announced that Scott McKeown will join its IP practice in Washington, DC as partner and chair of the firm’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) practice.
McKeown is the most active PTAB trial attorney in the US having personally handled over 150 PTAB trial proceedings since 2012, according to a statement from Ropes & Gray.
He focuses his practice on post-grant patent counselling and litigation matters at the US Patent and Trademark Office and related appeals to the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
“Scott’s experience with post-grant proceedings will be a significant asset to our clients,” said Richard McCaulley, chair of the IP litigation practice.
“Scott is recognised as a thought leader in this space, and has been from the inception of the PTAB.”
McKeown added that having previously worked with the firm for joint clients, he was “impressed with the collaborative culture” and felt that the “complex IP work for high-profile technology companies is a perfect fit” for him and his practice.
