Perkins Coie grabs Google deputy general counsel
The former deputy general counsel at Google will join Perkins Coie LLP as a partner its litigation practice, the firm announced in July.
Timothy Alger will be based in the firm’s Palo Alto office.
Alger was recruited as Google’s deputy general counsel in charge of litigation in 2008. He led litigation teams that obtained favourable rulings in the Viacom v YouTube copyright case in New York, the Rosetta Stone trademark keyword case in Virginia, and three patent trials Texas.
Joe Mais, chair of Perkins Coie’s litigation practice, said: “Alger [has] a wide range of experience in managing and trying complex litigation matters, and deep substantive expertise in solving the legal problems faced by new and traditional media companies.”
Alger said: “I have had an enjoyable experience working in-house at Google, but [I’m] looking forward to getting back into court and tackling fresh issues and obstacles that our clients face in the ever-changing new media space.”
