Patent lawyer Naveen Modi has left Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP to join Paul Hastings LLP as a partner.
Based in Washington, DC, Modi represents companies in post-grant proceedings before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He also covers patent litigation, interferences, client counselling and opinions.
Modi’s experience spans a range of technical areas, including medical devices, software, business methods, semiconductor devices and electronics.
The America Invents Act created new ways of challenging and defending patent claims, said Joseph O’Malley, co-chair of the firm’s IP practice, who added: “Naveen is among a handful of lawyers who have established a strong track record handling these contested proceedings before the USPTO. He will help lead our Patent Office practice to better serve our clients in this rapidly-growing forum.”
Outside of the US, Paul Hastings is based Asia, Europe and Latin America.
