Novak Druce expands national practice with four new partners

Following the opening of its Philadelphia office in July, US-based law firm Novak Druce Connolly Bove + Quigg LLP has boosted its firm with four new partners.

William Sloan Coats and Chris Holm join the Silicon Valley and Los Angeles offices of the firm, while James Glenn and John Weatherspoon will both work in the Houston branch.

Sloan Coats was previously a partner at Greenberg Traurig LLP. His focus is on IP litigation, specialising in patent, trademark and copyright disputes. He has experience representing companies in the computer, electronics and entertainment industries.

Holm joins from Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. He is a registered patent attorney with a background in aerospace engineering. His focus is on IP technology litigation.

Glenn’s focus is on IP technology litigation, and he has represented companies both domestically and internationally. He joins from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.

Weatherspoon previously worked as a biotechnology patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office. He will join the firm’s litigation and life sciences pharmaceutical group, and will assist the firm’s clients in developing and commercialising their IP assets, in addition to counselling them on patent litigation.

“We announced our strategy last year to deepen our litigation practice, and it’s developing even better than we had anticipated,” said Gregory Novak, managing partner and chief executive of the firm.

“The addition of these four new litigation partners following so soon after Novak Druce’s expansion in Philadelphia led by a senior litigation partner underscores the need for talented and experienced IP litigation professionals,” he added.
