Mintz Levin hires 18-strong life sciences team from Edwards Wildman

The recent merger of law firms Edwards Wildman Palmer and Locke Lord has made way for the migration of an 18-strong team of life sciences lawyers to law firm Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo.

The team, led by Peter Corless, David Conlin, Kathleen Carr and Kongsik Kim, will join Mintz Levin’s Boston office.

In total, eight members, three counsels and seven associates will join the firm.

The move follows the departure of three Edwards Wildman partners based in London to the newly-opened London office of law firm Cooley last week.

Edwards Wildman and Locke Lord approved a merger at the end of last year. The rebranded firm began operations as Locke Lord Edwards on January 10.

A former chemical engineer and patent examiner, Conlin was a co-chair of Edwards Wildman’s IP litigation group. He has obtained and litigated patents, and has closed multinational licensing deals for clients in the pharma and biotechnology industries.d managed patent portfolios for clients in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, as well as medical device companies and research institutions.

Carr, the other former co-chair of Edwards Wildman’s IP litigation group, has led trial teams in pharma patent cases and has carried out successful appeals before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

A registered Korean patent attorney, Kim’s (pictured below, right) practice covers biochemistry, pharma, biomedical engineering and medical devices.
