Microsoft has replaced the head of its innovation and IP group, Horacio Gutierrez, as a part of an internal reshuffle.
The new chief is Erich Andersen, who formerly led the business development and evangelism team within Microsoft’s legal and corporate affairs (LCE) department.
Gutierrez moves to head up the LCA’s products and services group, which deals with cloud computing.
In his time, Gutierrez has overseen several high-profile patent licensing deals, including with Chinese smartphone maker ZTE and electronics company Foxconn.
As reported by WIPR, Microsoft’s Android patent licensing programme is regarded as highly successful and lucrative for the company.
