Michael Best adds senior counsel in Austin

US law firm Michael Best & Friedrich has expanded its intellectual property practice group in Austin, Texas, by hiring Brian Mangum as a senior counsel.

Before joining the firm, Mangum worked at an international battery and green energy company as senior patents and contracts counsel.

His practice focuses on various IP matters such as litigation, post-grant reviews, and patent valuation and monetisation.

He has represented clients in the cloud computing industry in infringement claims at the US International Trade Commission, and in inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

David Krutz, the firm’s managing partner, said: “Brian is a talented attorney who will make an immediate impact for our clients with IP litigation needs in Texas.”
