McGuireWoods hires new partner
US-based law firm McGuireWoods LLP has appointed a new partner to its IP litigation and patents department in Dallas.
Jason Cook joins from Alston & Bird, where he was previously a partner in the firm’s IP litigation group. He has experience representing companies in patent disputes before the International Trade Commission, as well as federal district courts across the US.
He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and specialises in litigating technology patent disputes. He has worked on disputes involving wireless/wired communications, semiconductor operations and medical devices.
He said: “I’m impressed with McGuireWoods’ world-class breadth of experience and the service the firm delivers to its clients. I’m excited to be on the ground floor of what the firm is building here in Dallas.”
Brian Riopelle, chairman of the firm’s IP litigation and patents department, said: “Jason’s experience trying cases in the Eastern District of Texas complements the team we recently added to offer a full set of IP offerings in Dallas. We are delighted to welcome him to the group.”
