McDermott hires partner in Washington, DC

Law firm McDermott Will & Emery has expanded its IP practice with the addition of Ian Brooks as a partner in Washington, DC.

Brooks joins from law firm Ropes & Gray, where he served as an associate.

He focuses his practice on inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, as well as representing clients in post-grant proceedings at the International Trade Commission.

In January this year, the firm hired Nicole Jantzi and Paul Schoenhard as partners from Ropes & Gray.

Sarah Chapin Columbia, global head of the firm’s IP practice, said: “Ian represents the next generation of IP talent that has strengthened our bench in the Washington, DC office.

“We are excited that he will be able to team [up] with Nicole and Paul again, so that they can continue to provide top-notch IP litigation counsel to clients across various industries and technology sectors.”
