Marathon Patent Group and Uniloc announce merger

Patent monetisation company Marathon Patent Group and Uniloc Luxembourg have agreed to combine their services.

The new company will be called Marathon Group and its assets will consist of patents bought from third parties and those that are internally developed.

The combination is subject to government and regulatory approval. Shareholders and stockholders at both companies must also rubber stamp the deal.

Doug Croxall, chief executive of US-based Marathon Patent Group, said: “This combination positions Marathon Group for greater success than either company could have achieved independently.”

Craig Etchegoyen, Uniloc’s chief executive, added: "Together, our best-in-class management team and a collective deep understanding of the patent business create a platform for innovative growth.”

The parties are expected to complete the transaction in late 2015 or the first quarter of 2016.
