Kudelski settles Yahoo patent row
Digital security company the Kudelski Group has settled its patent infringement complaint against Yahoo, a dispute that centred on the Yahoo TV service.
In a statement today, May 19, Kudeslki said it had entered into a patent licensing agreement with Yahoo.
“Under the agreement, the parties agreed to dismiss all pending patent litigation,” Kudelski aid.
Yahoo will make a one off licence fee payment to Kudelski, though the figure has not been revealed.
The dispute centred on Kudelski’s OpenTV subsidiary.
Last month, in the latest claim filed at the US District Court for the Northern District of California, OpenTV accused Yahoo of infringing ten patents related to interactive TV, security, and sports trivia quizzes through the Yahoo TV service.
OpenTV’s filing was in response to a complaint for declaratory judgment filed by Yahoo in January this year.
In that action, Yahoo claimed it did not infringe seven patents that Kudelski had asserted against it.
