IP specialist firm CPA Global buys Landon IP

IP specialist firm CPA Global has bought Landon IP, a company that conducts patent searches, for an undisclosed amount.

CPA Global focuses on IP software issues, assisting companies to protect their IP portfolios comprising patent, design and trademark rights. Established in 1969, the company employs 1,800 people across Europe, the US and the Asia-Pacific region.

Landon IP is based in Alexandria, Virginia, and also has offices in London, Shanghai, New Delhi and Detroit.

Its services include helping companies, law firms, and universities undertake patent searches, as well as providing patent analysis and support in assisting IP strategies.

Current chief executive David Hunt will continue in his role and the company will continue to manage its own services. CPA Global, however, will assist with expanding the search functions of the company.

Tim Griffiths, chief executive of CPA Global, said: “As companies across the world increasingly seek to align the management of their IP assets with their broader business objectives, we are seeing greater demand for patent search and analytics services to help inform strategic decision-making.”

“Landon IP is a leader in this area and we are delighted to be working with them to deliver world-class patent services,” he added.

Hunt said: “Under CPA Global’s ownership, Landon IP looks forward to accelerating our growth ambitions, while continuing to provide clients with the same exceptionally high quality of service they have come to expect from us.”
