INTA elects new president
The International Trademark Association (INTA) has elected Gregg Marrazzo as its president for 2012, the association announced in January.
Marrazzo is the senior vice president and deputy general counsel at The Estée Lauder Companies, where he is responsible for the entire intellectual property portfolio, including trademark, patent, copyright, licensing and talent matters.
He is an expert on IP protection for consumer products, having overseen various different products and services during his career, such as sunglasses, entertainment, sports franchises, publishing, apparel and cosmetics.
Prior to joining The Estée Lauder Companies, Marrazzo was vice president and chief counsel of IP and global marketing at Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, where he handled trademark, patent, copyright and general legal work.
Before serving his term as INTA’s 2011 president elect and chair of the Planning Committee, Marrazzo twice served on INTA’s board of directors.
“I am extremely honoured to be leading INTA’s efforts to champion trademarks in 2012,” said Marrazzo. “As trademark owners face new challenges in the upcoming year, especially with the Internet and the rumblings of anti-IP sentiment, INTA’s role as the leading voice for trademark owners is vital in addressing issues with policy makers and trademark offices.”
Also taking office in 2012 are: Toe Su Aung of BATMark Limited (president elect); Bret Parker of Elizabeth Arden (vice president); Mei-lan Stark of Fox Entertainment Group (vice president); Lucy Nichols of Nokia Corporation (treasurer); J Scott Evans of Yahoo (secretary); and Michael Metteauer of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP (counsel).
