INTA elects JTI trademarks chief as 2016 president
The International Trademark Association (INTA) has announced that the director of trademarks for Japan Tobacco International will be its president for 2016.
Ronald van Tuijl, who has also worked as a senior counsel for technology company Philips, will take over from 2015 president J. Scott Evans.
Van Tuijl, who has served on INTA’s board of directors since 2011, said that 2016 was set to be a busy year for INTA.
“The global trademark community and our association remains deeply involved in the ongoing discussions around internet governance and the ever-growing domain name system,” he said.
He added: “During my presidential term, I also look forward to leading an INTA task force that will determine how best the association can support in-house trademark practitioners.”
INTA’s annual meeting takes place in Orlando this year from May 21 to 26.
