Huawei sues Samsung for patent infringement

Chinese phone maker Huawei has sued Samsung for patent infringement covering smartphone technology.

Huawei filed its lawsuit at the US District Court for the Southern District of California yesterday, May 24. A complaint has also been filed in China.

According to the complaint, Samsung infringed 11 of its patents which cover mobile network, communication systems and “3G partnership project technology”.

Huawei said Samsung has used technology developed by the company and earned “billions of dollars” in doing so.

Huawei is asking a jury at the court to rule that Samsung has infringed the patents and award it damages and royalty payments.

It demands a jury on the claims issued.
