Harry Elias Partnership appoints IP regional head

Law firm Harry Elias Partnership has appointed Brian Law as regional head of intellectual property.

Law joins from Wong & Partners, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International in Malaysia.

He will be responsible for establishing the new IP practice in the Brunei office and will co-lead the team with Suaran Singh Sidhu, of Azri, Lee Swee Seng & Co, in Malaysia.

Law is experienced in securing decisions involving trademark and patent disputes in Malaysia, and has been responsible for high-profile and complex anti-counterfeiting raids across the region, according to a statement from the firm.

Philip Fong, HEP’s managing partner, said: “Brian’s experience as an IP lawyer epitomises HEP’s culture of a practice of firsts and will enhance an important growth area of the firm. His knowledge of the region will be an invaluable addition to HEP’s capabilities in helping our clients navigate the complex IP landscape locally and across Southeast Asia.”
