Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP has appointed Kal Shah as a partner to its IP department in Chicago.
A commercial and IP litigator, Shah represents companies in industries ranging from life sciences to wireless technologies.
He joins from Thompson Coburn LLP, where he spent three years.
“Kal is a highly skilled litigator who will be an extremely valuable addition to our global IP team, especially in Chicago as we expand our capabilities in this office,” said John Roberts, partner-in-charge of Edwards Wildman’s Chicago office.
Jeffrey Hsi, co-chair of the firm’s IP department, added. “His impressive scientific background and deep technical knowledge will be tremendous assets to our clients in high-stakes litigation.”
Earlier in his career Shah worked at Kirkland and Ellis LLP, which followed a spell as a quality control engineer at Abbott Laboratories, from 1995 to 1999.
