Covington & Burling hires former GE counsel
Law firm Covington & Burling has reappointed a former GE counsel as a partner in its intellectual property practice in Washington, DC.
Richard Rainey, who specialises in patent and trade secrets, has represented clients in the software, internet and automotive industries.
He was previously executive counsel for global intellectual property litigation at GE and before that worked as a partner at Covington & Burling.
Tim Hester, chair of the firm’s management committee, said: “Richard not only has strong technical credentials, but he also is an accomplished trial and appellate advocate in the patent bar.”
