The Copyright Board of Canada has hired Robert Blair as chair, effective immediately.
Blair previously served as a trial judge at the Supreme Court of Canada for 12 years, where he presided over various areas of law.
The board is a regulatory body which works to establish royalties to be paid to the copyright owner for the use of their works and supervises agreements between licensing bodies and users.
James Moore, Canada’s minister of industry, said: “I would like to welcome Robert Blair in his new role.”
“His considerable experience and knowledge will be of great value to the board as it continues to oversee the administration of royalties and licences relating to copyright material.”
