British IP day launches

The Alliance for Intellectual Property has launched the first ever British IP day, which aims to celebrate the contribution that IP makes to the country.

The celebration, which launched today, July 5, aims to bring businesses and creators together.

As part of the celebration, the UK-based alliance is encouraging people to talk to their local member of parliament (MP) about why industry and creativity matters and how MPs can support IP.

Pete Wishart MP, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on IP, said: “It’s vital that MPs from across the political spectrum understand the importance of IP and how it drives economic growth and jobs in every constituency across the country.

“I encourage anyone with an interest in the promotion and protection of IP to come and visit their MP.”

Established in 1998, the Alliance for IP is a coalition of 24 associations and enforcement organisations who aim to ensure that IP rights get the protection they need.
