INTA can be daunting for the uninitiated. More than 9,000 professionals descend on one place for meetings, discussions and a few parties. How do you get the most out of your time? Stuart Fuller of NetNames tells us how you can keep your sanity intact.

1) Get the app

Download the INTA app from the website (www.inta.org) or App Store and use it to plan your time. This will be your best friend during the event as it includes access to maps of the conference venue as well as important contacts.

2) Prepare

Come prepared for your meetings. Remember that most people only have 30 minutes spare so ensure the time is effective by leaving them with a short takeaway on your organisation or what you spoke about.

3) Make a base

Find a meeting place other than ‘at reception’. Most people will look to meet their contacts or prospects there, which tends to mean that on the hour (and the half-hour) the whole area becomes very crowded and vital meeting time is lost searching the area looking at nametags.

Find a spot away from reception and describe it properly for your guests so they can easily locate you.

4) Get to the printer

Do your printing before you travel. Do you plan on giving out handouts or copies of documents and presentations? While there will normally be a copy shop on site, it will charge a premium for its services. Print before you travel—it may add a kilo or two to your luggage but it will save you a packet in the long-run.

5) See the city

Don’t ignore your surroundings. Make sure you factor in some down time to see a few things apart from the hotel and the conference centre. Orlando has some outstanding attractions, aside from Disney World, so make some time to explore.
