Adam Hess joins Venable in Washington

IP litigator Adam Hess has joined law firm Venable LLP and will work as a partner in its Washington, DC office.

Hess joins after working at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman for 21 years. At Pillsbury, he was managing partner in the firm’s Northern Virginia office.

As a veteran of cases at the federal court level and the ITC, Hess specialises in patent prosecution and transactional work for high-tech and manufacturing companies. He has also worked with companies in Japan, China and other parts of Asia.

Hess said: “I’m very pleased to join Venable, where I look forward to helping the firm further expand its ITC practice. Venable is a well-led and well-managed firm of high quality lawyers and I’m excited to be a part of its development plans."

“The diversity of companies Adam represents, and the range of venues—domestic and international—where he litigates, demonstrate Adam’s versatility,” added Bill Coston, chair of Venable’s IP division. “Beyond his accomplishments as a litigator, he also has the complete tools of an IP counsellor, able to handle anything from patent prosecution and portfolio decisions to transactional work for our clients.”
