Session: Growth and Opportunities: The Next IP Development in Asia

This session, moderated by Michael Lin, partner at Marks & Clerk in Hong Kong, focuses on the IP trends in Asia. It is based on indications that IP creation is shifting towards Asia, suggesting that the region is a growing influence on the future of IP.
The two speakers, Song Liuping, senior vice president of Huawei Technologies, and Uwe Over, corporate vice president of Henkel, will discuss how they formulate effective IP strategies in an uncertain business environment.
Session:The Future is Open: Managing and Commercialising IP Assets
When:11:20–12:30, December 1
This session will discuss company-driven innovation and the growing advocacy of open innovation, which might lead to more interdisciplinary collaboration and opportunities.
The session’s speakers, which include representatives from Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics and German chemical company BASF, will shed light on ways to facilitate product development with open innovation, while at the same time sustaining competitiveness and market share.
Session:Looking into China’s 13th Five-Year Plan: New Opportunities in the Innovation Era
When:09:30–10:30, December 2
Moderated by Claudia Xu, director of the Technology Transfer Center of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, this session will look at the 13th Five-Year Plan and its possible impact on the innovation and IP strategies of large corporations and SMEs from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and overseas.
According to BIP Asia, the plan makes innovation the primary driver of economic development. This session will also look at the efforts which have to be made by companies to enhance R&D. The three speakers in this session will be representatives from the State Intellectual Property Office, CGN CLP Energy Services (Shenzhen) and Amperex Technology.
